Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait is a 2006 French documentary film shot in an experimental style which consists entirely of clips of Zidane playing in one game, Real Madrid vs Villarreal on April 23rd 2005. It has no narration and no other talking, just a soundtrack from the Scottish band Mogwai.

It focuses artistically on showcasing his playing style and talent in real time. The film lasts the same period of time as a football match and was shot using 17 cameras inside the ground, in the remaining few minutes of the game Zidane was sent off for his role in a brawl.

The film has since had a mixed reception with some considering it a pretentious, boring and pointless attempt at art, and others considering it a fantastic and innovative piece of cinema.
