Wright Brothers’ Flying Machine

Published on 6th April 2016 by

The Wright Brothers, Orville and Wilbur, are credited in the history books with being the first people to take a successful flight in a power driven aircraft. Despite not being qualified engineers they systematically set about solving three key challenges facing other would-be flyers, even building their own wind tunnel and compiling their own data on lift and creating their own propeller design which remains virtually unchanged even today more than century later.

Wrights Brothers’ Flying Machine is a 2003 documentary which uses real life replicas to show their successful contraption in detail, showing the viewer how it worked and talking through the steps that they took to create their plane. Featuring in the film are several flight enthusiasts who attempt to replicate the Wrights’ early gliders and airplanes.
