Every year thousands of people make the hazardous illegal journey from Central America or Mexico to the United States to seek a new life, and many of those attempt the trip by climbing onto passing freight trains. Around five percent of those who attempt that journey are unaccompanied children, sent by their parents in their homelands to attempt to reach relatives in America.

Which Way Home is an Emmy winning and Academy Award nominated 2009 documentary by Rebecca Cammisa, it follows several children as they attempt the treacherous journey by jumping on top of a passing freight train known as La Bestia / The Beast. The film was three years in the making after Cammisa was awarded a scholar grant to produce the documentary in 2006.
