When Louis Met… Jimmy

Published on 23rd February 2016 by

In When Louis Met Jimmy (2000) Louis Theroux visits his childhood hero Jimmy Saville, the former children’s TV presenter and radio personality and follows him to his homes in Leeds, Scarborough and Glencoes in Scotland. Theroux probes Saville on his personal life, including his close relationship with his mother, and the reasons why he has never been married or had children.

During the course of filming Theroux subtly raises the subject of him being a peadophile, of which there had long been rumours, an allegation which Saville denies on tape. After Saville’s death in 2011 at the age of 84 a number of allegations would surface and an investigation would find that Saville was in fact one of the most prolific child molesters in British history and had used his charity work to gain power and influence and to serve as a smokescreen for his crimes.
