Walking with Dinosaurs is a six part BBC documentary series which first aired in the United Kingdom in 1999, and subsequently in North America on the Discovery Channel in 2000. The series uses animatronics and computer generated images to present various species of dinosaur in a similar format to that of a traditional nature documentary. The series won two BAFTA Awards an three Emmy Awards, it also entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive documentary ever produced (per minute of finished film).

The Director Tim Haines and others from the BBC involved in producing this series went onto form their own independent production company, Impossible Pictures, which made some other dinosaur related series including Sea Monsters (2003).
