Stephen Fry travels across America through all 50 states and Washington D.C. in this six part BBC series, he travels through most of it in a London black cab. As well as being aired on the BBC the series was also shown in America on HDNet and in Australia on ABC1, it is also repeated regularly on the UK cable channel Dave.
In each state Fry experiences things which set the state apart, and meets various high profile Americans along the way, in episode 1 for example he spends time with lobster fishermen in Maine and meets with Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales in Washington D.C. Other celebrities to feature include Morgan Freeman, Sting, and Buddy Guy.

Fry also authored a book about his adventure, which sold well in both the UK and US, Stephen Fry in America: Fifty States and the Man Who Set Out to See Them All, available in paperback or hardcover.
