Snow Chick: A Penguin’s Tale

Snow Chick: A Penguin’s Tale is a one hour long 2015 BBC documentary which tells the story of an emperor penguin’s first few months on ice in the worlds most extreme nursery. The chick, nicknamed ‘snow chick’ is the last penguin to hatch and he struggles to fit in with the other chicks who due to being hatched earlier in the season are bigger.

The young chick also survives a kidnapping attempt by ‘chick snatching’ female penguins when he strays too far from his mother, escapes from a hungry predator, and gets lost in a storm. The documentary follows snow chick all the way up to the point that he has to make his own way to sea to find food with other young penguins.
