Frank Bruno is one of the UK’s best loved sporting legends, the big heavyweight was a European and World Heavyweight boxing champion and faced some of the sports greats including Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis. Bruno won 40 of his 45 bouts, winning 38 of those by knockout.
In 2003 Bruno was taken from his home by medical staff, assisted by police officers, and detained under the mental health act. Whilst under psychiatric care he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, he admitted to cocaine use which may have contributed to the collapse in his mental health.
Rachel Bruno: My Dad & Me is a documentary by his daughter about the struggles of being raised by a father with bipolar, how it has changed Frank as a man and tore apart their family, and Frank talks about his medication and what he does now to keep himself occupied.
