Plasticized is a 48 minute long Australian documentary which follows the 5 Gyres Institute as they embark on the first scientific expedition to examine the extent of plastic waste across the South Atlantic Ocean and to survey the effects, reality and scale of plastic pollution. This low budget documentary allegedly cost just $15,000 to produce.

The 5 Gyres Institute is a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles which is dedicated entirely to spreading awareness about global plastic pollution through science and education, you can get involved or donate to their research and activities via their website If you want to learn more about the problem of plastic pollution then stick around and watch the excellent 85 minute long 2008 Canadian documentary Addicted to Plastic which examines the scale of the problem in a global context and suggests various solutions to the problem.
