Natural World: A Farm For The Future

Published on 20th February 2016 by

In this 2009 TV episode the wildlife film maker Rebecca Hoskings looks into ways in which she can transform her families farm into a low energy cost-efficient farm for the future.

With her father close to retirement she is set to inherit the farm but is taking over the business at a time when fast rising energy prices are driving up the costs of production and cutting profit margins, naturally serving as a wake up call to farmers.

Realizing that the UK is over-reliant on fossil fuels she sets with the help of other pioneering farmers and growers out to change the way that her farm uses energy to massively reduce its reliance on fuels with increasingly unreliable supply. It is ultimately about potentially solutions to the problem of peak oil.
