Louis Theroux: Law and Disorder in Johannesburg

Louis Theroux travels to Johannesburg in South Africa, one of the most dangerous cities in the world, to explore the lawlessness in the city. Johannesburg has the highest murder rate in the world and the highest rape rate, police have abandoned policing in some parts of city and policing is instead carried out by private security companies who are effectively armed gangs who offer protection services for money or by vigilante groups who dish out rough justice themselves.

This documentary is part of a three part series of hour long features in which Theroux explores criminality in three major world cities, the BBC only rubber stamped their production on the condition that Theroux and his crew wore a military grade bullet proof vest at all times.
