Louis Theroux explores the world of extreme bodybuilding in the USA in this year 2000 episode of his Weird Weekends series. He films in California – the capital of vanity – where he tries his luck at becoming a bodybuilder himself, but after training with a leading amateur soon accepts that he is not cut out to be a muscle man and instead tries to find a new role in the world of competitive bodybuilding.
He visits a farm in Connecticut which has been turned into a playboy’s mansion for female bodybuilders and lands a small cameo role in a film production about female bodybuilding. The owner of that farm, Charles Peeple, is clearly obsessed with females who have muscles but gets angry at the suggestion in one amusing scene. Watch more Louis Theroux episodes here.
