Long Way Round is a 10 part television series which documents a 19,000 mile journey undertaken by actor Ewan McGregor and his friend Charley Boorman, the pair traveled from London to New York entirely on BMW motorcycles with a brief flight to Alaska to navigate a segment which couldn’t be covered by road. The series was broadcast on Sky 1 from October 2004 to February 2005. The pair had a support crew of three people, these were two producers and one cameraman.
The journey passed through twelve countries in total starting in the UK, then through France, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Canada, and then through part of the USA to reach New York, various famous landmarks were visited along the way.
The television series actually consisted of seven one hour long episodes, but a special edition DVD version was released which extended the series to 10 episodes.
