J is for Junkie

J is for Junkie is a wonderful independent documentary by Atlanta man Corey Davis, a man who felt that he grew up without a father as his father was often out on the streets hustling for drug money. Davis wrote a blog post about his childhood in which he admitted that he was one of the many child victims of the great crack epidemic which swept through African American communities in the eighties and that as a result he had zero respect for crack addicts.

For some reason though David was drawn to a group of addicts who would convene behind a gas station near to his place of work in Atlanta and one day just began filming them, the result is this unique documentary. The addicts warmed to Davis over time and opened up about their struggles dealing with addiction and homelessness.
