An independent 2007 feature length documentary from 2007 which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Helvetica typeface, the film was directed by Gary Hustwit who released a trilogy of design themed documentaries (see also Objectified and Urbanized).

The film was screened at festivals around the world and an edited version was broadcast on UK television in 2007, it was also given a DVD release with a limited edition run of 1500 including the directors signature. The DVD’s special features include 95 minutes of additional interview footage.

Numerous legendary designers contributed to the film, many of whom have since passed away, they include Massimo Vignelli, Rick Poynor, Wim Crouwel, Hermann Zapf, and many more.  Check out more Art Documentaries.
