The Genius of Photography

A six part BBC series from 2007 on the history of photography following its development from its very first transitory moments to modern digital techniques. The series explores the development of the medium and its importance in shaping the world that we live in, from daguerreotype to digital, from portraits to photo-journalism, from art to advertising, photography has established itself as the most influential art form in the world.

The series includes interviews from some of the worlds most celebrated and influential living photographers including William Eggleston, Nan Goldin, William Klein, Martin Parr, Sally Mann, Robert Adams, Juergen Teller, Andreas Gursky, Jeff Wall, and many more. Each of the six one hour long episodes is available to watch here on Documentary Vine, navigate them using the numbered tabs beneath the video player or by using the list of links below.
