Genius of the Ancient World is a three part 2015 series produced by the BBC and presented by Bettany Hughes; the series sees Hughes travel to India, Greece and China on the trail of three giants of ancient philosophy – Buddha, Socrates and Confucius. We have all three episodes of the series available to watch here on Documentary Vine, details of each episode are provided below.

Episode 1: Buddha (India)

In the first episode Hughes travels to India to explore the revolutionary ideas of Buddha, whose teachings would inspire the founding of a religion which is now followed by almost half a billion people.

Episode 2: Socrates (Greece)

In the second episode Hughes travels to Greece on the trail of the hugely influential thinker Socrates who was executed for his beliefs.

Episode 3: Confucius (China)

In the third and final episode Hughes travels to China on the trail of Confucius whose ideas have helped to shape the country of China for the past 2,500 years.
