The vast majority of documentaries featured on this site are America or UK centric, probably because our website happens to be English language and documentaries made in non-English speaking countries are seldom subtitled. It is always really interesting therefore when a documentary which focuses on drug problems overseas is released, this documentary appears to have been named Drug Trafficking in Punjab and it looks at the problem with drug addiction and drug trafficking in the Punjab region of India.

Drugs are a global problem, there is not a single country in the world which doesn’t have deep social problems and widespread drug problems, whether that is the consumption of Cocaine by the affluent in New York or London, or the sniffing of toxic glues by street kids in Ghana. This documentary tells us how high unemployment and lack of hope among young people in Punjab has given birth to serious rise in drug consumption, not helped by the fact that huge quantities of Afghan heroin floods through Pakistan and into the area for distribution through Asia to Russia and Europe.
