Desperately Hungry Housewives is a one hour long BBC documentary which first aired in 2009, it explores the growing problem of eating disorders amongst older women. Society has typically perceived anorexia and bulimia to be problems associated mainly with teenagers and younger women.

The films producers go inside the world of four middle class women who have had problems with food and explores the various health problems that they have developed as a result of their disorders, they include Jane who is in her fifties but now has the bone density of a woman in her nineties. Also featuring are 36 year old Zoe who has undertaken therapy to try and overcome her anorexia and Tracey a bulimic who tries to hide her problem from her children.
