Former hard drug addict Carl John returns to his hometown of Liverpool where there is a major crack epidemic to visit his old school friends who are all now hooked on crack cocaine and heroin.

The resulting BBC documentary film from 2003 is a grim insight into the lives of drug addicts in the deprived Toxteth and Dingle districts of Liverpool and the means through which they obtain the money they need for a fix, from shoplifting to prostitution.

There has never been an update on the current status of the people who feature in the film, although we did do a bit of snooping and managed to find the filmmakers facebook account. At least one of the addicts to feature in the film appears to be doing very well and living a normal life.
