A 2015 BBC Panorama report into British cancer patients who are undertaking pioneering new treatments to try and cure their otherwise untreatable cancers, huge advances in genetic research are providing new hope to cancer sufferers and they willingly volunteer themselves as test subjects.

The documentary focuses on the Drug Development United at the NHS Royal Marsden Hospital and their cutting edge research into new treatments for cancer, following seven patients who are undergoing drug trials feature in the film.

One of those who volunteered themselves for the groundbreaking trials is Tami Morris, a 40 year old woman who had been told that there was nothing else doctors could do to treat her Ovarian cancer. Putting herself forward for the trials had extended her life and allowed her more precious time to spend with her daughter.
