Brian Clough: The Greatest Manager England Never Had

The story of Brian Clough, widely considered to be one of the greatest English football managers in history. This 2011 BBC documentary looks back at the life and career of Clough, who died in 2004, with the title declaring him to be possibly the greatest manager that England have never had. His first major success was taking Derby from the second division to the semi-final of the European Cup.

His greatest successes were however to come with Nottingham Forest who Clough took from the second division to the top flight of English football and then on to two consecutive European Cup wins. Despite often being the popular choice among English football fans for the England job he was never given the opportunity. He interviewed once for the job in 1977, losing out to Ron Greenwood.
