BBS: The Documentary is an eight part (three DVD disc) 2005 documentary about the subculture born from the creation of the bulletin board system, the film was made by Jason Scott the owner of textfiles.com – itself a website dedicated to preserving digital documents from the BBS world and various subcultures.

Scott interviewed over 200 people to make the film, which took four years to finish. We have all eight episodes of the documentary available to watch here on Documentary Vine, navigate between the episodes via the numbered tabs beneath the video player or by using the episode links below.

The documentary was made available for free under Creative Commons but the creators made it known that downloading / streaming was only a taste of the full experience. The DVD’s contain numerous Easter Eggs and the third disc is also a DVD-Rom with thousands of photographs taken during the four years producing the film.
