American Photography: A Century of Images is a three hour long 1999 PBS documentary series which examines the history of photography in America in the 20th century, featuring numerous iconic images which became world famous and profiling some of the countries most celebrated photographers. The film looks at how photography has not only helped to document a century of change but also helped to create that change.
The documentary is split into three parts and has been broadcast as both a single three hour long episodes and as three individual one hour long episodes, on Documentary Vine we have all three one hour long episodes – navigate between them via the numbered tabs beneath the video player or the episode link list below. The film is no longer shown by any PBS stations.

An accompanying hardcover coffee table book of the same title, written by the photography critic Vicki Goldberg and the art historian Robert Silberman, was published through Chronicle Books in 1999. It is still available to purchase in new condition.
