American Meth

American Meth is a 2009 documentary which examines the methamphetamine epidemic in America, it is narrated by the actor Val Kilmer. The film looks at the damage being done by meth to communities across America from communities as diverse as the sleepy teens of Montana, where the teen meth epidemic has been featured in other documentaries such as Montana Meth, to the homeless in Portland.

In the film we meet a meth addicted couple named James and Holly, parents of four children, who let the filmmaker Justin Hunt into their lives. The documentary is a grim but important look at a very real issue, but it was created by Hunt and partly funded by his American Meth Education Foundation non-profit organization to spread awareness.

If you want to read more about the meth epidemic which swept through small town America then consider purchasing Nick Reding’s bestselling 2009 book Methland: The Death and Life of an American Small Town, available to purchase in paperback, hardback and audiobook formats.
