A six part 2008 BBC documentary series created by historians Laurence Rees and Andrew Williams which examines German-Soviet relations before, during, and after World War II, and the involvement of the UK and US. It was made following the release of controversial new information which had been classified until after the fall of communism and provides an overview of some of the surprising secret dealings between the West and Joseph Stalin, some of which would ultimately lead to many European countries swapping one tyrant for another.

The series is partially dramatised, with actors used for reenactments, and Rees led the research for the series whilst Williams oversaw the direction of the drama. We have all six one hour long episodes to watch here on Documentary Vine, navigate them via the numbered list beneath the video player or by using the episode list below. Rees also wrote, produced, and directed the excellent 1997 series The Nazis: A Warning from History.
