The club owning Kray twins with their celebrity friends brought glamour to the London underworld in the 1960’s, but whilst the Krays reveled in their notoriety it was a another much more organised and more powerful gang who really controlled the streets of London.
The rival gang The Richardsons, led my Charlie Richardson and otherwise known as ‘The Torture Mob’, were feared for their violent reputations and were far more successful in building wealth and power. Charlie Richardson was a shrewd and ruthless businessman, and not afraid to use violence to get what he wanted in life. Charlie Richardson died in 2012 at the age of 78.
We can’t work out when this documentary was made or whether it was ever aired on television (we googled the narrator but can’t find any reference to them working on a documentary about The Richardsons on their IMDb profile or BFI page).
Charlie Richardsons final memoirs were published in 2014, two years after his death. The book, titled The Last Gangster: My Final Confession became a Sunday Times Bestseller. In the book he confesses some of his crimes and talks about his rivalry with The Krays. The book is available in paperback, hardcover, and kindle edition.
