In 2016 the corporation known as Alphabet officially overtook Apple to become the world’s biggest company, Alphabet was previously known as ‘Google’ and it owns the worlds largest search engine, the worlds largest advertising network, and countless other successful businesses. It was a meteoric rise for a business which didn’t exist until September 1998, it had begun life two years earlier when two Stanford PhD students started a search engine as a research project. Those two students were Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both the sons of college professors, and the companies first headquarters was the garage of a friend in Menlo Park, California.
The Google Boys is a 45 minute long 2005 biographical documentary about Page and Brin, telling the story of how their simple idea turned into the worlds number one search engine with the help of a $100,000 seed investment. For a greater insight into the culture within the behemoth that they created check out the 2010 Nat Geo documentary Inside Google.
