The 11th Hour (2007) is a documentary film created by, produced by, and narrated by the actor Leonardo Di Caprio. It looks at the state of the natural environment and includes contributions from over 50 prominent people including politicians such as former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev and scientist Stephen Hawking. The film looks at the issues of global warming, deforestation, the mass extinction of species, and the depletion of the oceans.
Many of the experts interviewed underline the need for everybody to come together to reverse the destruction of the planet, with the role of humans in the destruction of the environment explained by numerous academics. The film was generally well received critically but took less than $1 million at the box office which is likely to be far less than it cost to produce.
