That’s Football!

286

A classic fly-on-the-wall documentary following Swindon Town’s 1992/1993 season in full, a season which finished with the club winning promotion to the Premier League. It was Glenn Hoddle’s first full season in charge of the team, and his last as he left before their first ever Premier League season began to become player/manager at fellow Premier League side Chelsea. The film manages to capture what football was about in England, just before an influx of global television money and overseas players changed the game forever.

Documentaries which give behind the scenes access to football culture are few and far between, if you liked this one though you will probably also enjoy There’s Only One Barry Fry which follows Barry Fry’s ill-fated takeover of Peterborough United, and The Four Year Plan (2011) which went behind the scenes at QPR.
