One Mile Away is a 2012 feature length documentary which charts the attempts of two rival postcode gangs in inner city Birmingham to end their long running feud and bring peace to their area. It follows the difficult journey that those attempting to bring peace have to recruit more supporters from both sides, but they are met with paranoia and suspicion.

Those involved in trying to bring peace are mentored by Jonathan Powell, a man who was instrumental in securing the Good Friday Agreement which resulted in a peace deal in Northern Ireland. The warring gangs are the Burger Bar Boys (postcode B21) and the Johnson Crew (postcode B6), and their feud originated from a dispute in 1980’s, despite both gangs having been formed with good intentions at a time when black youths were being targeted by right-wing extremist gangs.
