Louis Theroux travels to America to explore the world of people who own private collections of animals which are normally found living as wild animals in Africa and Asia, including big cats such as Tigers and dangerous Primates like including chimpanzees. The episode was first broadcast in 2011.
Amongst the places that he visits is the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, a non-profit organisation which states is purpose as being to provide shelter and care for exotic animals. The park has had its controversies, with some animal rights organisations accusing the operators of animal neglect and poor living conditions. Theroux probes the owners of these collections on what drives them to keep such dangerous animals as pets, and questions the ethics of keeping and breeding these animals in captivity.
