An hour long 2009 documentary by Louis Theroux. He visits the Coalinga State Hospital in California, which is a secure mental hospital created especially for pedophiles and other sexually violent criminals, around 500 of the 850 residents are pedophiles and the approx 350 others have been convicted of sex crimes of a different nature.
The facility is effectively a prison which offers an optional treatment program, in order to stand a chance of release back into the community the patients / inmates have to complete the program. Around one third of the residents opt to undertake treatment.
Theroux was the first film maker to be permitted access to the facility since its completion in 2005 and was widely praised for the way in which he approached the subject, he won a Royal Television Society award for this documentary.
