J is for Junkie

J is for Junkie is a wonderful independent documentary by Atlanta man Corey Davis, a man who grew up without a father as he was often out on the streets hustling for drug money. Davis wrote a blog post about his childhood in which he admitted that he one of the many child victims of the great crack epidemic which swept through African American communities in the eighties, and that as a result he had zero respect for crack addicts.

For some reason though he was drawn to a group of addicts who would convene behind a gas station near to his place of work in Atlanta and began filming them, the result is this unique documentary. The addicts warmed to Davis and opened up about their lives dealing with addiction.
