An Islamic History of Europe is a feature length 90 minute long BBC documentary, first broadcast in 2005, which looks at the history of the Islamic religion in the continent of Europe. The presenter Rageh Omaar visits Spain, Sicily and France to trace the history of the earliest followers of Islam to reside in Europe.

Omaar uncovers a period of time when Islam had a great influence on the culture of continental Europe, particularly in Spain, and in particular the influence of Islamic scholars and academics on the development of European civilization including the possible importation of some basic scientific principles that our modern societies are now built on, including algebra and algorithms. Also consider watching the three part BBC series Science and Islam (2006).
