David Bowie: Five Years

A one hour long 2013 BBC TV documentary which covers the five most important individual years of David Bowie’s career, using his songs and archived footage to form a timeline of five different periods in his career which were considered his most creative and influential. Much of the footage used in the documentary was previously unseen archive footage, and it features interviews with some of the many people who collaborated with him.

Many Bowie fans have stated that this is one of their favourite Bowie documentaries, with some stating that it truly captures the way that Bowie would continually evolve to remain relevant and cement his place as a musical icon of our time – a mark of his creative genius. In 2016 David Bowie died, and in January 2017 the BBC aired a second documentary: David Bowie: The Last Five Years, which focuses on his final two studio albums.
