In this 2013 episode of BBC’s ‘Stacey Dooley Investigates’, Stacey Dooley visits Peru, the country which has overtaken Colombia as the worlds largest manufacturer of Cocaine, she seeks out factories deep in the Peruvian jungle and learns how cocaine is produced and then exported throughout the world.

Dooley also visits Peruvian prisons to meet some of the people incarcerated for involvement in the trade, including Brits who were caught attempting to smuggle the drug out of country after agreeing to act as drug mules in return for payment.

Also worth a watch on the subject of drugs mules is Michaella, Peru, and the Drugs Run, a 2014 documentary about a young lady from Northern Ireland who was jailed in Peru for attempting to smuggle cocaine out of the country.
