A 2017 BBC Wales three part documentary series following homeless people in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. The filming took place over a six month period and shows the desperation of people who really don’t have anywhere to go. Among the homeless people featured are Dean, whose health is at crisis point, ‘Smurf’ who lives in bushes and turns junk that he finds into amazing inventions, and Roshelle a drug user who decides that going to prison is a better option than sleeping on the streets.
It was filmed at a time when homelessness is a growing problem in the United Kingdom, with is suffering from a housing shortage and cuts in government funding for homeless organisations and mental health, and a growing number of street beggars in Cardiff and in cities all over the country. In 2016 the number of rough sleepers in the UK rose for the sixth successive year.
