Bulls and Bears

A classic 1998 documentary about futures trading, it follows three traders who stake high sums through the Sydney futures exchange during one of the most volatile periods that the markets have experienced. The documentary was filmed over a ten year period and edited down to just 50 minutes, but succeeds into giving the viewer an insight into the roller coaster ride that these highly speculative investors take on a daily basis.

During the course of filming the US markets experienced a big ‘correction’, which is market lingo for contraction, and the Aussie dollar hit an all time low. The year prior there was a financial meltdown in Asian markets. This is a film about people who can lose everything one day and win it all back the next in a world when things can quickly spiral out of control.
