This is the incredible true story of Daniel Tammet; one of the world’s most gifted savants. Tammet was able to do incredible calculations in his head from a young age. He can recite 22,500 decimal points of Pi and is fluent in 9 languages.

The documentary follows Daniel on his travels around America as he meets the scientists searching for the answers behind his extraordinary abilities. Daniel’s ability to see numbers as shapes and textures offers a fascinating insight into how a savant’s mind works.

Tammet also meets the most famous savant of them all, Kim Peek who was the inspiration behind Dustin Hoffman’s character in ‘Rain Man’. Like Peek, scientists find there to be an interesting correlation between his autism and mental abilities. On the link between mental illness and brain power, Daniel wisely declares that: “The line between profound talent and profound disability is a surprisingly thin one.”
