Bannatyne Takes on Big Tobacco


British entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne travels to Africa to explore an epidemic of children smoking. He reports on the situation in Malawi, Nigeria and Mauritius where smoking related deaths have doubled and meets with children as young as 11 who are smoking up to 10 cigarettes per day.

Bannatyne uncovers a practice of single cigarettes being sold in local shops, aimed at children, and returns to London to confront representatives of British American Tobacco which owns popular brands including Pall Mall, Benson & Hedges, and Embassy and have been enabling the sale of single cigarettes as a marketing strategy.
